Knowing Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (or, the new “Science of Love”) will help you be successful in couples and relationships.  Developed by Dr. Sue Johnson, Emotionally Focused Therapy is a powerful, empirically validated approach to working with even the most distressed couples.  It will even help you improve your own compassion for others and strengthen relationships in your own life.  Imagine improving your therapy skill, having more success in treating couples, earning CE credits, and getting happier in your own life all at the same time.  We know from recent research (Levenon & Sandberg, 2010), attending an EFT Exerternship can do just that!

What to Expect

The EFT Externship requires four days of training. We will meet online from 9 am to 4 pm PST each day. We will start with a welcome and introduction, and a review of the EFT Certification process and expectations for this series. All trainings will be offered live via Zoom video conferencing. During our training, we will have moments where there will be breakout groups and we will pair group members with a volunteer. Volunteers are typically EFT Supervisors or EFT Supervisors-in-Training. Our hope is that the breakout groups will allow you to connect meaningfully with the material, as well as to foster connections among attendees. For this reasons, break out groups are typically assigned by location, with exceptions made as needed. Our volunteers also help with attendance tracking, so if you ever have a concern about late log ins or questions of that matter, you can reach out to the Trainers and copy your assigned volunteer.

At the end of the four days, we will review attendance logs and issue ICEEFT Certificates of Attendance. Information will be submitted to ICEEFT and you will have a limited-time opportunity to become an ICEEFT member at a discounted rate (which would expire one month from our last meeting date). For CE Certificates, we will connect everyone to Allison Brown Lee. She will collect fees and survey responses, and issue certificates. Upon completion of the EFT Externship, you will be able to begin Core Skills and continue your journey to certification.
